Our Solar Installation Process
If you live in Florida, you’ve likely already been bombarded with adverts, cold calls, and solicitations promoting how “easy” it is to go solar.
And in truth, it really can be easy if you commission the right contractor for the job.
At Capital Solar and Roofing, for example, our installation process couldn’t be simpler. There are never any:
- High-pressure sales tactics
- Unnecessary hassles.
- Unexpected surprises.
Our goal is to help you save as much money as possible from your clean power investment. And we’re prepared to hold your hand – from the moment you contact us until your PV system becomes fully operational.
Below is how our simple 5-step solar installation process works.
The journey begins the moment you request a free solar inspection from our PV experts. We’ll immediately dispatch a team to analyze your home’s solar potential (i.e. how much total sunlight it receives). Some of the variables that factor into this analysis include the shading, pitch, and orientation of your roof.
We’ll also examine your historic electricity consumption to ensure that whatever PV system we install covers your energy needs – both now and in the future.
In addition, we’ll explore ways to reduce some of your power consumption by replacing any energy-hungry appliances with more efficient alternatives. It’s often cheaper to invest in an energy efficient HVAC, Hybrid hot water heater, pool pump, or attic fan than it is to install more solar PV panels.
If your existing roof needs to be upgraded or replaced, we’ll let you know at this stage too.
Next, our solar experts will provide you with a detailed proposal that outlines key metrics like:
- The daily, monthly, and total output of your PV system.
- Your monthly, annual, and lifetime utility bill savings.
- How quickly your solar installation will pay for itself.
We’ll also select the most appropriate PV components for your system. Because no 2 roofs are ever the same, we custom design every installation from the ground up.
To learn which solar components we use most often in our Florida residential installs, be sure to check out our PV Technology page. However, if you’re partial to any components not on this list, our installation team can easily accommodate you.
FYI: You’ll have all of the above in writing before we even start. So there are never any unwanted surprises.
If you decide to move forward, we’ll help you qualify for solar financing – whether you choose to purchase your system using:
During this stage, our solar experts will also help you apply for state and federal solar incentives like the Investment Tax Credit and Florida’s net energy metering program.
With financing in place, we then begin the actual installation process – including the mounting, racking, and panels themselves.
Some homeowners also want:
- On-site batteries to store their daytime power for nighttime consumption.
- Electric panel upgrades to handle the extra power from their PV systems.
If you’re enrolled in the state’s net metering program, we’ll also connect your solar system to the utility grid during this step.
For most homeowners, this final step is the most enjoyable. Your solar PV system finally comes online, allowing you to produce clean electricity from sunshine.
Your only job is to decide how to spend all the extra money your solar panels start saving you every month. You can even keep track of your PV system’s performance thanks to our solar monitoring solutions.
